FROM INPUT TO ANSWER

Use this tool

  1. Enter the whole number of units you need.
  2. Add one row per offer with pack size, pack price and one shipping charge.
  3. Compare total cash outlay and units supplied; subtract your required units to find any surplus.
WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

Reading your result

The first row is the cheapest full offer meeting demand. Cost per supplied unit includes freight; it is not cost per required unit.

UNDER THE HOOD

How this works

Round required packs up; total = packs × pack price + one shipping charge.

Use the units shown beside each field. For monetary amounts, use one currency throughout; calculations do not convert currencies. Results normally display up to two decimal places. Nonzero values below 0.01 use up to six significant digits; values below 0.000001 use scientific notation (for example, 1E-7 means 0.0000001). Rankings use unrounded values, so displayed scores can look equal without being tied. CSV downloads retain numeric precision. Monetary rounding uses half-away-from-zero. Inputs or results beyond supported precision are rejected.

Assumptions & limits

Ranks total cash outlay to meet demand. Ignores tax, storage, quantity breaks and supplier quality.

CSV inputs support quoted commas, doubled quotation marks and quoted line breaks. Headers are case-sensitive; a maximum of 500 data rows and 200,000 characters applies per table.

Results are planning aids based on the values you enter. Check important decisions and documents before using or sharing them.
